چکیده

The present numerical investigation examines the performance improvement of thermoelectric generators (TEGs) by using phase change materials (PCM) and porous medium. Due to high latent heat PCMs, both sides TEG were filled with paraffin RT35 (on cold-side) RT69 hot-side). PCM in cold-side was used as a heat-sink whereas hot-side reduce output voltage fluctuations. Since system periodically subjected flux from an external source, also generate continuous thermal when source cut-off. To increase conductivity material, this studied effect copper medium different porosities (0.80, 0.90, 0.95) three pores per inches (PPI) 10, 20, 40. results show that use on produces more electrical energy compared (i) having (ii) without generator. Furthermore, indicated enhanced increasing PPI reducing porosity. As result, 10 40 (at 0.80 porosity) porosity 0.95 20), electricity generated increases 13.57 5.36%, respectively.

Coefficient of Performance Optimization of a Single Stage Thermoelectric Cooler

In thermoelectric coolers (TECs) applied external voltage potential is generated to a temperature difference based on the Peltier effect. Main and basic structure of TECs is in the form of single stage device. Due to the low efficiency, especially low coefficient of performance (COP) of thermoelectric coolers, optimal design of geometrical parameters of such devices is vital. For this purpose, ...

A thermoelectric energy harvester with a cold start of 0.6 °C

This paper presents the electrical and thermal design of a thermoelectric energy harvester power system and its characterisation. The energy harvester is powered by a single Thermoelectric Generator (TEG) of 449 couples connected via a power conditioning circuit to an embedded processor. The aim of the work presented in this paper is to experimentally confirm the lowest ΔT measured across the T...

Thermoelectric Performance Enhancement by Surrounding Crystalline Semiconductors with Metallic Nanoparticles

Direct conversion of thermal energy to electricity by thermoelectric (TE) devices may play a key role in future energy production and utilization. However, relatively poor performance of current TE materials has slowed development of new energy conversion applications. Recent reports have shown that the dimensionless Figure of Merit, ZT, for TE devices can be increased beyond the state-of-the-a...
